Long light on the almost-longest day of the year fell on a field below Case di Noe this evening. That + a little bit of humidity +a little bit of smoke = pure magic…
It seems to me that a lot of Italian colors are played false in photos (or maybe it’s just this photographer 😦 ) – we’re forever saying, ‘but it was more vibrant that that,’ or ‘but it was softer than than.’ A puzzle.
Stunning! In Washington DC, we celebrated the longest day of the year with sweltering heat. So my “view” was from a single shell early in the morning on the Potomac River, looking back upstream and seeing a bald eagle coast across the water to land in a tree.
Oh my… simply magnificent. Thanks for sharing this, Louise. I will send you a photo of a similar bit of magical lighting we experienced from a sunset over Blue Hill Bay when we were in Maine last Sunday evening.
Pat ~ When I studied art history I thought the Renaissance painters had fervid imaginations – then I came to Italy and realized they were just painting what they saw. The light is different here than anywhere else, I think…
looks like the view from my house in Busseo
I know what you mean about the light, and that deep blue sky that looks false when I photograph it. The humid zone skies never are that color.

That’s a pretty good way to celebrate, Betsy – sounds like a lovely paddle.

I’ll look forward to that – hoping to be in Maine myself in about 4 weeks!
Beautiful!!! We had the same light in Umbria. I would love to paint it!! Pat
