This morning my friend Deborah called from San Francisco called to say that the letter I mailed to her from Rapallo on October 18 had arrived yesterday.
What wonders did my letter see on its long journey from me to Deborah??!
I guess we’ll never know, because although it’s full of words, it’s not talking. Guilty conscience, no doubt.

Ha, fortunately finally it was delivered!!!
I know! Can you imagine, though? I had quite a misunderstanding with my friend because I was SURE I’d told her something, and she was SURE I hadn’t – and it was in that well-traveled letter.
I expect it got caught up in an alternate universe in San Francisco, which I understand is a place that offers many ways to alter the space/time continuum.
Hadn’t thought of that. I, of course, blamed the Italian postal system.
The Italian postal service is a strange beast.
It is indeed – and here I thought things had improved so much. Well, maybe they have, just not ALL the time.
